Each year since 2000 the Trust has engaged Owl Research and Marketing to survey the catchment community to:

  1. Provide information about knowledge, attitudes and behaviours of catchment residents regarding issues the Trust is involved in.
  2. Provide information to guide the following years UPRCT Marketing Plan
  3. Provide statistical data to show how representative respondents are of the broader catchment community.
  4. Provide data to look at changes over time.

Some key findings for 2003 were:

  • The environment was the most important issue in Parramatta (47%), Holroyd (43%) and Blacktown (35%) council areas, and marginally second by 2% in Baulkham Hills council area (39%).
  • The most important environmental issue is 'water pollution in creeks and lakes'.
  • 61% of respondents claimed they would be willing to install a rainwater tank for non-drinking uses, and 42% an irrigation system to water their gardens more efficiently.
