Sustainability will be the theme at this year's
Lake Parramatta Open Day. The Upper Parramatta River Catchment
Trust along with Baulkham Hills and Parramatta Councils will
be coordinating the Lake Parramatta Sustainable Living Festival,
this Sunday 14 March at the Lake Parramatta Reserve in North
Parramatta.
Bob Junor, Chairman of the Upper Parramatta River Catchment
said, "Lake Parramatta is a great place to remind people
that we do need to think about how we live. Living sustainably
allows the community to use less and reuse more, so that the
resources we do have can be used for everyone. The Lake Parramatta
Sustainable Living Festival will provide an opportunity to
gather some really great information on what each individual
can do to help reduce the strain on our environment.
Parramatta Lord Mayor, Cr Paul Garrard commented: "the
catchcry of the environmental movement is 'Get involved'.
This open day will show Parramatta residents how they can
do small things that will help preservation of resources and
sustainabity in a family fun way."
The day will feature a number of exhibitors from a variety
of organisations, community groups and government agencies.
Included are Yesterday -Today - Tomorrow Straw Bale Housing
Company, Sustainable Energy Development Authority, the Alternative
Technology Association and the Australian and New Zealand
