Summary
Since 1990 the Upper Parramatta River Catchment Trust
has been collecting rainfall and streamflow data to validate and
refine the Trusts detailed computer model
of flood behaviour.
A network of 15 recording rain gauges and 6 stream
level recorders have been set up to enable stream flow to be measures
in real time. This provides one of the most intensive data collection
systems anywhere in Australia. The recorders are linked to the Trust
via telemetry, enabling data to be read as it is recorded. At each
station, a sensor collects the data and sends the information by
a radio signal to the Trusts office.
This data can be viewed and retrieved live on-line.
