Map List, Simple Steps, Map Layout, Data Sources and Credits

  

Zoom In - Click the icon. Click and hold down the left mouse button over the map to start the zoom in rectangle. While holding the button down, move the cursor in any direction to define a rectangle, which will be shown in red. Release the mouse button when you have selected an area to zoom in on. The display will be updated so that the area defined by the red rectangle will fill the entire graphics window.

 

Zoom Out - Click the icon.  Click and hold down the left mouse button over the map to start the zoom out rectangle. While holding the button down, move the cursor in any direction to define a rectangle, which will be shown in red.  Release the mouse button when you have selected an area to zoom in on. The display will be updated so that the small the area defined by the red rectangle the larger the zoom out will be.

Zoom to full extent - Click on icon and you will see the entire map

 

Zoom to active layer - Click on the icon and you will zoom to the full extent of the active layer

 

Back to last extent - Click on the icon and you will view previous map.

Pan tool - Click the icon. Click and hold down the left mouse button over the map.  Move the mouse in any direction to view another section of the map.  Release the mouse button when you have moved to your new centre.  It may take a short while to retrieve the new sections of map.  

Each of the Pan One Direction buttons allows you to pan the map in a specified direction.

 

Identify - Select 'Active' on the layer you want to find information on.  Click on the icon. Click on a feature and attribute information will be displayed about the feature.

 

Query - Query will execute a search on specific data. Click a layer to make it 'Active'.  Click to Query button and a query box will appear below the map.  Select a field, operator and value.  If you are unsure of values click "Get Samples" to view sample data.  Click 'Add to Query String'.  Click 'Execute' and map will automatically redraw.

 

Find - Click on the icon to find a particular feature on the map.  Make sure you have the layer selected.  Type in the feature you wish to find, select the layer the feature is part of, then click "find".  The features found will be listed.  Click on the feature you wish to find.  The feature will be highlighted in yellow and centred on the page.  If you are unable to see the feature, select the zoom in button and select the centre of the page.

 

Measure - Measure the total distance between points

 

Hotlink - If available will link to relevant documents or photographs. See photoserver map.

 

Set Units - Change the units to measure aspects.

Clear selection -

 

Print - Click on icon to either print out the map or save it to disk.  Below the map a box will appear and you can type your title for the map. Then click 'Create Print Page'.  A separate browser window will open which will displays a page with the current map display, a title, and the legend. This map can be printed by choosing Print from the browserss File menu. Alternatively, clicking with the right mouse button on either the legend or the map displays a menu so that image can be saved to disk in GIF format.
