PROJECTS:

Capacity Building of Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) in the Sydney Region

The Trust, Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC) and Sydney Coastal Councils Groups (SCCG), are taking the lead in delivering the Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) 'capacity building' program in Sydney. A Steering Committee - comprising officers from various Sydney councils, WSROC, SCCG, Sydney Water and the Trust - was formed in late 2000 to guide the planning and delivery of the Sydney WSUD 'capacity building' program. On behalf of the WSUD Steering Committee, Baulkham Hills Shire Council was awarded a $325,000 Stormwater Trust grant to fund the program.

One WSUD 'Capacity Building' project officer manages the capacity building project. The Sustainabile Water Challenge, a yearly competition demonstrating innovation in WSUD, provides incentives for councils to implement WSUD in their local area. Further information can be obtained from the WSUD capacity building website, www.wsud.org.

The companion WSUD project is 'Demonstrating Opportunities for a Water Sensitive Western Sydney'
