In late 2001 Blacktown City Council successfully applied
for a $482,000 Stormwater Trust grant for a companion project to
the 'Capacity
Building for WSUD in Western Sydney' entitled 'Demonstrating
Opportunities for a Water Sensitive Western Sydney'.
This project aims to develop several WSUD demonstration
sites and projects in Western Sydney. Baulkham Hills Shire Council,
Sydney Water, the Trust, and Landcom are project partners.
Demonstration sites include
- An aged-care medium density housing development
at 1-5 Pioneer St, Seven Hills.
- Model Farms High School, Baulkham Hills
- A Landcom sales office at the Homeworld 4 exhibition housing
site.
These sites provide diversity and a reality in the application
of WSUD elements, with varying densities of development, new and
retrofit options, and typical land and institutional restraints.
The project also supports the master planning of the large WSUD
urban release area at Second Ponds Creek, Schofields.
