Completed in 1998 the Lake Parramatta
Water Quality Management Plan sets out the steps needed to improve
water quality in Lake Parramatta so that we can swim again.
This plan has been adopted by Baulkham Hills Shire
Council, Parramatta City Council and the Upper Parramatta River
Catchment Trust, as part of the Stormwater
Management Plan for the Catchment.
The Trust reviewed the plan in 2003. Although many
elements of the Plan are still considered relevant, the Trust resolved
to focus on the problems in the Lake that directly impact upon recreational
swimming, such as pathogens, nuisance plants and algae, woody debris
(snags) and other related issues. The review report is attached.
