Stormwater
runoff is the water that flows from our roofs, drains, and roads
into pipes which discharge into local creeks and rivers. The pollution
carried by stormwater is one of the main causes
of poor water quality.
In 2001, Parramatta City Council and the Trust received
funding under the NSW EPA Stage 3 Stormwater Trust Grants to develop
a stormwater education program focussing
on people from non-English speaking background (NESB) communities.
This project aims to educate the local community about their impacts
on water quality. The program will develop a teaching package for
English learning at TAFE, school colouring competition, industry
education package that will be translated into different languages.
