HOME PAGE: Water Quality

State:

The catchment creeks can be divided onto 32 broad sub-catchments: Toongabbie Creek sub-catchment; Darling Mills Creek sub-catchment; and Parramatta River Floodplain sub-catchment . The water quality in most of the creeks is very poor for human uses, and an average quality for ecosystem health.

Pressure:

The quality of water in the creeks is caused by urban living such as driving cars and developments. These activities produce pollution such as nutrients, chemicals, litter and sediment that reduce the quality of water.

Response:

Improving and maintaining a good level of water quality is the responsibility of everyone. Governments are putting alot of money to help improve water quality. The Trust works with local councils and the community on many projects to improve water quality.
